How to brush your pet’s teeth
Begin by letting your pet sniff the brush and taste a small amount of pet toothpaste. Lift the lip gently, then place the bristles at about 45° to the gum line. Use small circular or back-and-forth motions on the outer tooth surfaces, where plaque commonly builds up.
Start with a few seconds and gradually work toward the back teeth. Use a pearl-sized drop of pet toothpaste and aim to brush once or twice daily. Never use human toothpaste. Reward calm behaviour and stop if your pet shows pain or significant stress.
Care for the brush
Rinse the bristles thoroughly after each use, shake off excess water and allow the brush to air-dry in a clean place. Do not share one brush between pets, and replace it when the bristles become worn, bent or damaged.
Brushing helps control soft plaque but cannot remove hardened calculus. Seek veterinary advice for bleeding gums, loose teeth, swelling, persistent bad breath or difficulty eating.
