Natural bone safety guidance
ZEAL describes these short ribs as a crunchy chew with soft bone and exposed marrow. Even so, every natural bone can create risks. Pieces may splinter, damage teeth, cause choking or block the digestive tract.
- First, choose a rib that is larger than your dog’s mouth and suits their chewing strength.
- Supervise your dog from start to finish. Do not leave the chew unattended.
- Inspect it before and during use. Remove small, sharp, cracked, damaged or swallowable pieces promptly.
- Avoid this product if your dog gulps food or has poor teeth unless your veterinarian says it is suitable.
- Stop feeding it if beef does not agree with your dog or if chewing causes discomfort.
- Ask your veterinarian before giving a bone to a puppy, senior dog or dog with dental or gastrointestinal concerns.
Feeding and storage
Feed ZEAL Veal Short Ribs as an occasional complementary chew alongside a complete and balanced diet. As a guide, keep all treat calories within 10% of daily intake and adjust the main meal when needed. In addition, provide fresh drinking water and wash hands and feeding surfaces after handling.
Finally, reseal the bag and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Brisbane heat and humidity can affect opened treats, so discard the product if the pack is damaged or the smell, colour or texture seems unusual.

Frequently asked questions
What are ZEAL Veal Short Ribs made from?
They list one ingredient: 100% New Zealand veal short ribs. Veal comes from cattle, so this is a beef-based dog treat.
Why does some ZEAL packaging say Spare Ribs?
The regional product listing uses the name Veal Short Ribs, while some front packaging uses Spare Ribs. Check the exact pack, size and ingredient statement you receive.
Do ZEAL Veal Short Ribs contain bone?
Yes. ZEAL describes them as meaty ribs with soft bone and exposed marrow. Therefore, supervise continuously and remove unsafe remains.
Are ZEAL Veal Short Ribs a complete dog food?
No. Feed them in moderation as a complementary chew alongside a complete and balanced diet.
Can puppies have ZEAL Veal Short Ribs?
No universal puppy age is published here. Ask your veterinarian first, then consider the puppy’s teeth, size, chewing style and ability to swallow pieces safely.
Do veal ribs clean a dog’s teeth?
Chewing may create mechanical contact with tooth surfaces. However, it cannot guarantee plaque or tartar removal and does not replace brushing or veterinary dental care.
